Hyundai Motor India has started taking bookings for its upcoming micro SUV – Exter. The carmaker has also confirmed that the model lineup will be offered in 5 trims – EX, S, SX, SX (O) and SX (O) Connect. It will come in multiple colour options including a new ‘Ranger Khaki’ shade. The company says that the new Khaki paint scheme “reflects one’s exploration desires while celebrating the thrill of setting out in the world.” Powertain setup of the Hyundai Exter mini SUV will include a 1.2L Kappa petrol and a 1.2L Kappa petrol with the factory-fitted CNG kit. Both motors are claimed to be “tuned to deliver consistent performance in diverse conditions” and offer “a delightful driving experience”.
The front fascia of the Exter micro SUV has been adored by a new parametric grille, H-signature LED DRLs, projector headlamps with split setup and sporty skid plate. It has pronounced blacked out wheel arches and side sill cladding. The diamond cut alloy wheels, parametric design C-pillar garnish, a floating roof and a shark fin antenna further enhance its sporty appearance.
Interior details of the new Hyundai mini SUV are still under the wraps. Though, it’s reported to share its features and cabin layout with the Grand i10 Nios hatchback. On the feature front, the model might offer a larger touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a multi function steering wheel, an electric sunroof, cruise control, keyless entry, ABS with EBD and 6 airbags. The Hyundai Exter is expected to go on sale in the next 2-3 months. Its prices are expected to start around Rs 6 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 12 lakh for the top-end trim. If launched at this price point, it will become the most affordable Hyundai SUV in the country. In fact, it will be Hyundai’s smallest SUV as well. Here, it will take directly on the Tata Punch, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
