Korean automaker, Hyundai has officially released teasers of its upcoming MPV, called the Hyundai Custo. The 7-seater MPV is developed by the Beijing Hyundai joint venture. The company has showcased the design of the MPV via teasers released on the brand’s social media platform.
The teaser images of the Hyundai Custo 7-seater MPV completely reveals the design elements. The MPV was fully leaked on the Internet in April 2021, when it was appeared on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) website. Based on the Tucson, the new Hyundai Custo is a 7-seater minivan with sliding doors.
The Hyundai Custo shares the complex headlamp design of the Tucson SUV, as well as the connected lightbar at the rear. However, the headlights have a different ‘C’ shape. The new Custo comes with interesting looks, featuring unique design elements and crossover-like styling.
The new Hyundai Custo sits below the Staria in the brand’s MPV line-up. It measures 4.95 meters in length, 1.85 meters in width and 1.73 meters in height. Technical specifications of the new Custo are yet to be released. The MIIT website reveals that the Custo 7-seater MPV will be offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 170bhp of power. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via an automatic gearbox.
The Hyundai Custo could also receive a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with power output at 236bhp. The MPV is expected to be offered in a front-wheel-drive layout only. The MPV will only be sold in the Chinese market.
Hyundai is also reportedly working on a new compact MPV for the Indian market. The new MPV is likely to be based on the Hyundai Creta’s platform, which also underpins the Alcazar and the Kia Seltos. The new MPV will be offered in 6 and 7-seat layout, and will be positioned between the Ertiga and the Innova.
