Hyundai Creta 7 Seater To Get Different Name and Design

It is no secret that the second generation Hyundai Creta will receive a 7-seater version in select Asian markets including India and Indonesia. The SUV was earlier caught testing in South Korea. Now, the company has started testing the Hyundai Creta 7 seater on the Indian roads.

The spy images confirm that the 7-seater Creta will be longer than the 5-seater model that is already on sale in India. We reported earlier that the 7-seater SUV will ride on 20mm longer wheelbase. In fact, the length of the SUV will be raised by 30mm to accommodate third row of seats. The company would make certain changes to the styling and will utilise the 433-litres of boot space to create space for 3rd row of seats.

7-Seater Creta Side Spied

Not just dimensions and design, the new 7-seater Creta will have a new name. The company has trademarked the Alcazar nameplate, which is rumoured to be the name for the long-wheelbase Creta. However, Hyundai is yet to make an official announcement on the same.

Going by the pictures, it is visible that the Creta 7 seater looks similar to the 5-seater model up to the C-pillars. The SUV has extended rear over hangs to accommodate third row of seats. The C-pillar design is slimmer, which makes way for a quarter glass to offer third-row occupants a view outside. It also gets compleytely re-designed rear profile, which has new bumpers, tailgate and all-new tail-lights. In fact, the SUV gets flatter roof instead of the sloping roof in the 5-seater model.

The front fascia gets uniquely designed, chrome-studded radiator grille. The bumper and headlamp design have also been revised. It comes equipped with front parking sensors, which is missing in the five-seater variant.

The new Hyundai Creta 7 seater version is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 113bhp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel and a 138bhp, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer. The SUV is expected to be launched in our market in mid-2021. Set to rival the Tata Gravitas, Mahindra XUV500 and the MG Hector Plus, the Creta 7-seater is expected to be priced around Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh.
