Hyundai Alcazar SUV recently had its world premiere in India. The SUV will be offered in 6 and 7-seats configurations and two (petrol and diesel) engine options. The model is likely to hit showrooms in coming weeks. Once launched, it will go up against the MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV500 and new Tata Safari. Here’s a brief engine specifications based comparison between the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar and Mahindra XUV500.

Petrol Engine

As mentioned above, the Alcazar will be made available with petrol and diesel engine options. Powering the petrol model will be a 2.0L, 4-cylinder unit sourced from the Elantra and Tucson. Though, it has been tuned for producing 7bhp more power. Now, the gasoline unit makes a top power of 159bhp and 192Nm of torque.

The current generation Mahindra XUV500 doesn’t come with the petrol engine. The SUV will soon enter into its next generation with comprehensive design and feature upgrades along with new and more powerful engine setup. The 2021 XUV500 is reported to use a 190bhp, 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol motor that will make it the most powerful petrol SUV in its segment.

Hyundai Alcazar Vs Mahindra XUV500 Diesel

Diesel Engine

The Hyundai Alcazar diesel will be powered by a 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo unit returning a claimed power of 115bhp and 250Nm of torque. It’s the same engine that does duty in the 5-seater Creta.

The XUV500 employs a 2.2L diesel engine under the hood. The oil burner generates a peak power of 155bhp and 360Nm of torque. Compared to Alcazar diesel, the XUV500 is more powerful.
