Hyundai Alcazar, the three-row SUV from the South Korean carmaker, has finally made its global debut in India. The model will be offered with 6 and 7-seats configurations and multiple engine and gearbox options. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed its official launch date, it’s likely to arrive in the month of May. Once launched, the Alcazar will take directly on the newly-launched Tata Safari, updated MG Hector Plus and the new-generation Mahindra XUV500.

The new Hyundai 7-seater SUV is essentially the bigger and premium version of the Creta. It shares its platform and several design bits and components with its 5-seater sibling. However, the Alcazar’s engine setup is different from the Creta. The carmaker has confirmed that its new three-row SUV will come with a 2.0L, 4-cylinder petrol engine that’s good enough for 152bhp and 192Nm of torque. It’s the same motor that does duty in the Elantra sedan and Tucson SUV. The petrol version is claimed to do 0 to 100kmph in under 10 seconds.

The diesel version of the Hyundai Alcazar will feature a 1.5L turbo unit borrowed from the Creta. However, the oil burner will be calibrated for generating more power. The Creta diesel makes power worth 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. Both engines can be had with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission. While its mileage figures are still under the wraps, the carmaker confirmed that the diesel version will deliver best in segment fuel efficiency with both manual and automatic gearbox. The SUV will offer three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport. Read – 2021 Hyundai Aura Features Leaked Ahead of Launch
