Hyundai Alcazar 7-Seater To Hit Dealerships In May 2021

We reported earlier that the much-anticipated Hyundai Alcazar 7-seater SUV will be launched in the second quarter of 2021. A new media report claims that the new Alcazar will start reaching dealerships from May 2021, which means that launch could take place in April or early May 2021.

The Hyundai Alcazar is a 3-row SUV based on the Creta. It will be offered in 6 and 7-seat configurations. The 6-seater model will get captain seats for the second row, while the 7-seater will have bench-type seat with 60:40 split for the second row.

The Hyundai Alcazar 7-seater SUV is expected to feature 20mm longer wheelbase and will be around 30mm longer than the 5-seater model. The longer wheelbase will allow Hyundai engineers to create space for third-row occupants. The company will also use the big boot space for the third-row, which means that the Alcazar won’t offer a big boot.

The SUV will have premium features like 360 degree camera and front parking sensors, which are missing in the 5-seater model. It could also get a larger touchscreen, auto-dimming IRVM, and leather upholstery. The Hyundai Alcazar will also receive design changes to look different from the Creta. The SUV will receive different roof and rear design. It will have flattish design instead of rounded profile in the 5-seater Creta. The SUV will have extended over hangs, and flatter roof, new LED tail-lamps, bumper and new tailgate. It will also get a chrome-studded radiator grille and revised headlamp.

It is likely to be offered in two engine options – a 1.4-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. While the former is good for 138bhp and 250Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. The petrol engine will receive 6-speed DCT, while the diesel will have 6-speed torque convertor automatic. It is not likely to get the 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which is offered with the 5-seater model.

Likely to be priced around Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh, the Hyundai Alcazar will be positioned against the likes of the Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector Plus and the Tata Safari.
