Hyundai Alcazar To Come With 6 and 7-Seat Options; Mahindra XUV500 Rival

Hyundai has officially announced that the Alcazar 7-seater SUV will make global debut in India in the next few days. The new model is basically the long wheelbase of the 5-seater Creta. It will be positioned against the likes of the Mahindra XUV500, Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus. However, the Alcazar will be smaller in terms of proportions compared to its rivals.

While the official teaser and release claims that the Alcazar will be a 7-seater SUV; however, interior spy images confirmed that the SUV with 6-seat options will also be on offer. While the 7-seater Alcazar will come with bench-type second row seat, the 6-seater model will get captain seats for the second row.

The upcoming Hyundai Alcazar will ride on longer wheelbase and the length will be raised to accommodate third row of seats. It was reported that the SUV will ride on 20mm longer wheelbase and the length will be raised by 30mm.

Hyundai will also make design changes to keep things fresh in the market. Due to change in dimensions, rear profile and the roof design will also be changed. The SUV will come with flattish design instead of rounded profile in the 5-seater Creta. Spy images reveal that the Hyundai Alcazar will have extended over hangs, and flatter roof, new LED tailamps, bumper and new tailgate. It will come with a chrome-studded radiator grille and revised headlamp.

The SUV will also receive front parking sensors, which is missing in the 5-seater car. It is likely to feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system (bigger than Creta), auto-dimming IRVM, 360 degree camera, leather upholstery and front parking sensors.

The Hyundai Alcazar is likely to come in two engine options – a 138bhp, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol and a 113bhp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. A 6-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. The petrol engine will receive 6-speed DCT, while the diesel will have 6-speed torque convertor automatic. It is not likely to get the 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which is offered with the 5-seater model.
