Honda’s Grand Vitara-Rivalling SUV Could Look Like This

After introducing the 2023 City facelift, Honda is all set to introduce a new midsize SUV in our market in the next few months. The company has already confirmed that the new model will make its debut in the Q2, 2023 that’s April-June. The new model is reportedly to be launched by mid-2023. A new report claims that select Honda dealers are already accepting pre-bookings for the new SUV for a token amount of Rs 11,000.

It is reportedly to be called the HR-V; however, Honda has also registered the “Elevate” nameplate in India. The new Honda SUV has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. The new model will have a coupe- or a crossover-like design with HR-V inspired front end, heavy cladding and a sloping roofline.

A new rendering shows the possible design of the upcoming Honda SUV. The SUV will have the split lighting system with LED DRLs on top. The SUV has an upright stance with a squarish tumble zone, which is very similar to the HR-V on sale in Europe and Japan. The new model has a flatter roof, while the beltline moves upward along with a sloping rear section. It will have large glass areas, which should offer a more airy feel in the second-row.

The rear design of the SUV will have similarities with the new gen WR-V and the HR-V. It will have wrap-around tail-lights with LED elements and halogen turn indicators, sloping roofline with a tailgate mounted spoiler. The new model will come equipped with features like a 360 degree camera, Honda’s Lane Watch system to detect blind spots, a camera-based advanced driver assistance system or ADAS, six airbags, ESC, VSM, hill launch assist & an electronic parking brake.

The new Honda SUV is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre NA petrol with e:HEV strong hybrid with two electric motors. While the former is good for 121bhp and 145Nm, the strong hybrid offers a combined power and torque of 126bhp & 253Nm respectively. The NA engine will come with a 6-speed manual and a 7-step CVT.
