2023 Honda City Becomes India’s Most Affordable Car With ADAS

New-age cars are now equipped with several advanced safety and connected features as standard. One such feature is Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS), which has recently been introduced on the new City sedan. Moreover, SUVs like Mahindra XUV700 and the MG Astor are also offered with ADAS tech. People are liking this feature, as it further improves the driving experience. 

While most of the automakers are adding ADAS tech on the top-spec variants of their vehicles, Honda has gone ahead by offering ADAS as standard in most of the variants of the City sedan. In fact, the 2023 Honda City is the most affordable car in our market which comes with an advanced driver assistance system.

The new City facelift is available with 4 trims – SV, V, VX and ZX. Except for the SV trim, rest of the trims of the new City are offered with ADAS features. Moreover, the V, VX and ZX trims are available with manual as well as CVT options. The strong hybrid powertrain is also offered on the V trim, which makes it more accessible. 

New City SV Variant

This new entry-level variant costs Rs 11.49 lakh and is only available with 1.5L NA petrol engine with manual gearbox. It is fairly loaded with features like projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail-lights, 15-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, TPMS, hill-start assist, 4 airbags, height adjustable driver’s seat, 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, ESP, traction control & engine start/stop button. 

New City V Variant

This trim is available with 1.5L petrol with MT & CVT, and strong hybrid tech. The petrol MT is priced at Rs 12.37 lakh, while the petrol CVT costs Rs 13.62 lakh. The strong hybrid version is tagged at Rs 18.89 lakh. 

The City V manual is the country’s cheapest model to offer ADAS tech. In fact, the City is the only model to offer ADAS with a manual gearbox. It offers features like auto emergency braking system, adaptive cruise control, Low speed follow function (hybrid only), lane keep/departure assist, lead car departure notification and automatic high beam. 

In terms of features, the City V gets LED fog lamps (hybrid), boot-lid spoiler (hybrid), 15-inch dual-tone alloys in NA engine and 16-inch with hybrid, all-4 disc in hybrid version, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, wireless charger in hybrid only, electronic parking brake in hybrid variant, connected car tech, keyless entry and 7-inch MID with hybrid. 

New City VX

This trim is available with 1.5L petrol with manual and automatic gearbox. While the manual version costs Rs 13.49 lakh, the CVT version is tagged at Rs 14.74 lakh. This variant also has all the ADAS features available in the V trim. Adding to it, the City VX gets six airbags, Lane watch camera, sunroof, wireless charger as standard, etc. 

New City ZX

The petrol manual and automatic versions are priced at Rs 14.72 lakh and Rs 15.97 lakh respectively. The strong hybrid model is tagged at Rs 20.39 lakh. This variant comes with features like auto-dimming IRVM, rain sensing wipers, LED headlamps with fog lamps, 7-inch MID, 16-inch alloys, leather upholstery, one-touch power windows, auto folding ORVMs, ambient lighting & others. 

Engine Options

The new City is available with two engine options – a 1.5L 4-cylinder NA petrol & a 1.5L NA petrol with e:HEV strong hybrid with two electric motors. While the former is good for 121bhp and 145Nm, the strong hybrid offers a combined power and torque of 126bhp & 253Nm respectively.
