The much-awaited Honda Elevate mid-size SUV is slated to make its global debut in India on June 6, 2023. This mid-size SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun and others. It will be designed and developed on the 5th generation City platform and will share styling cues from bigger Honda SUVs including the CR-V and the HR-V. ADAS Tech
The Elevate will be the second offering in the mid-sized SUV category to offer ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). Similar to the City, the ADAS tech could be offered as standard in most of the variants of the Elevate. The advanced driver assistance features will include automatic emergency braking system, adaptive cruise control, Low speed follow function, lane keep/departure assist, lead car departure notification and automatic high beam.
Bigger Touchscreen
The new Elevate mid-sized SUV will come with an all-new interior, which will be completely different from the City facelift. The new model will have an all-new electronic architecture inspired from the bigger Honda cars including the global Civic. It will have a bigger touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless connectivity features and a digital driver display.
No Panoramic Sunroof
Honda has partially revealed the new Elevate mid-sized SUV, which shows the top view. The picture also confirms that the SUV will come with a single pane sunroof and won’t come with a panoramic sunroof. The Panoramic sunroof is popular among buyers, which is evident from the huge success of the Hyundai Creta. In fact, the upcoming Kia Seltos facelift will also come with a panoramic sunroof.
Engine Options – No Diesel, Turbo Petrol
Honda has already confirmed that it won’t offer diesel engines in the country. Diesel still commands a good demand in the mid-sized SUV category, which is evident from the Creta diesel sales. In fact, diesel accounts for close to 50% of total Creta sales in our market.
Not just the diesel engine, the new Elevate is not likely to get the choice of the turbo petrol engine. However, previous reports claim that Honda could offer the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with the new Elevate. The SUV will be offered with the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine that produces 121bhp and 144Nm of torque. Similar to the City facelift, the new mid-sized SUV will receive a 1.5L petrol with e:HEV strong hybrid tech.
Front-Wheel-Drive Layout
The new Honda Elevate mid-sized SUV will only be offered in the front-wheel-drive layout. It won’t be offered with the AWD (all-wheel-drive) layout. The SUV’s direct rivals the Maruti Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder are available with Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD setup.
