Honda Cars India is preparing to enter the highly competitive midsize SUV segment with its all-new Elevate model. The booking window for the vehicle has been opened nationwide, with the prices set to be announced in September, just before the 2023 festive season. According to an official statement from the company, the Honda Elevate has been designed to meet the evolving market requirements, and they anticipate it will achieve “tremendous success”.
When the new Honda SUV is launched, it will face tough competition from popular cars like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, updated Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. Built on Honda’s Global Small Car platform, the Elevate SUV features a 1.5L i-VTEC petrol engine. Customers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed CVT automatic gearbox. The power and torque figures for the gasoline unit are 121bhp at 6,600rpm and 145.1Nm at 4,300rpm, respectively.
In terms of dimensions, the new Honda Elevate SUV measures 4312mm in length, 1790mm in width, and 1650mm in height. While its overall length and height are slightly greater than the Creta, its width is the same as its arch rivals.
Additionally, the Elevate offers a 40mm longer wheelbase (2650mm) and a 30mm higher ground clearance (220mm) compared to the Creta. The luggage area of the Elevate is 458-litres, slightly more than the Creta’s 455-litre boot space.
Honda has confirmed that the Elevate will come equipped with a 10.25-inch LCD touchscreen infotainment system featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as a 7-inch HD TFT instrument cluster.
The highlight of the Honda Elevate is its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology, which includes features such as adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking system, lane departure warning, and road departure warning. The safety kit of the Elevate also includes 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, Isofix child seat mounts, immobilizer with anti-theft alarm, and more.
