Leading the charge in Mahindra’s EV lineup is the XUV.e8, an electric iteration of the XUV700 and the brand’s first born-electric SUV poised for release in the market. Although specific launch details remain undisclosed, the production-ready version is anticipated to debut by the end of 2024. Ahead of its market introduction, a near-production version has been unveiled, shedding its camouflage to showcase distinctive design elements. Notable features include a fully enclosed grille, triangular headlamp housings on the front bumper, a full-width LED light strip accentuating the nose, and a distinctive kink near the C-pillar.

In terms of design, the XUV.e8 shares similarities with the internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered XUV700, incorporating design elements such as a front bumper and fog lamp assembly. Noteworthy are copper-colored accents on the front grille, wheel caps, fog lamp housings, and the rear section, reminiscent of the Mahindra XUV400, underscoring its electric identity.

While the interior of the Mahindra XUV.e8 remains somewhat shrouded in mystery, preliminary glimpses from spy images hint at a configuration featuring three horizontally placed screens. These screens serve distinct purposes, functioning as an infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, and one for the passenger. Drawing inspiration from the Mahindra XUV700, the layout and features are expected to align closely, complemented by a flat-bottomed, two-spoke steering wheel and a new touch-based climate control panel.

The Mahindra XUV.e8 will house a powertrain setup, boasting a larger capacity battery pack ranging from 60-80kWh. The anticipated range is approximately 400km to 450km, with an expected power output spanning between 230bhp and 350bhp.
