GMC has introduced the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1, which is claimed to be a “first-of-its kind supertruck developed to forge new paths with zero emissions”. This pick-up truck also marks the official debut of GMC’s first 100% electric vehicle.
The new GMC Hummer EV is claimed to offer unprecedented off-road capability, extraordinary on-road performance and an immersive driving experience.”This innovative truck comes to market with speed and purpose, bringing GM another step closer to an all-electric future,” said Mark Reuss, president of General Motors.
The Hummer EV gets General Motors’ all-new Ultium batteries and power from Ultium Drive. It is claimed to offer best-in-class 1000bhp and GM-estimated 11,500 lb-ft (massive 15,592Nm of torque). The power and torque are generated by three separate motors within two ultium drive units to give Hummer EV’s e4WD remarkable on- and off-road capabilities. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 3 seconds.
The GMC Hummer gets segment-exclusive 4-wheel steer featuring crabwalk that allows the rear wheels and front wheels to steer at the same angle at low speeds, enabling diagonal movement of the vehicle, for greater maneuverability on challenging terrain.
The super pickup also gets adaptive air suspension with Extract Mode capability that enables the suspension height to be raised around 6-inches. This will help the Hummer EV in negotiating extreme off-road situations. It is fitted with 35-inch-OD Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. Customers can also opt for 37-inch tires.
The GMC Hummer EV gets underbody armor, which comprises of sturdy steel plates placed around the battery pack to provide protection in extreme off-roading conditions. UltraVision that includes new front and rear underbody cameras with live “virtual spotter” views to help drivers navigate obstacles and place wheels on and off the trail. It also gets off-road widgets that display vehicle functions and terrain status through the infotainment and driver information screens.
The GMC Hummer EV gets 800-volt DC public fast charging compatibility of up to 350 kilowatts. It is compatible with the fastest 350 kW DC fast chargers, which enables nearly 100 miles or 161 kms of range in 10 minutes of charging. It is estimated to offer over 350 miles or 564 kms of driving range on a full charge.
The Hummer EV comes fitted with a large 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment screen and 12.3-inch diagonal driver information centre display, a multipro tailgate with six functional positions and power rear drop glass window.
