Ford EcoSport SE and S Variants Teased; Launch Within Few Days

We informed you earlier that Ford Motor Company will launch a new SE variant of the EcoSport compact SUV. Now, the company has officially teased the new variant on its social media platforms. What’s interesting is that Ford will launch two different variants of the compact SUV, called the EcoSport SE and the EcoSport S.

The new teaser has a statement, “Two’s always better than one. Coming soon #FordEcoSportSE, same-same but a different avatar of Ford EcoSport S.” The Ford EcoSport SE variant will come with the international spec tailgate design, while the details about the EcoSport S variant are yet to be revealed.

New Ford EcoSport SE Variant

The new Ford EcoSport SE variant will have rear styling inspired by the global-spec model. It won’t feature a tailgate mounted spare wheel. Other changes include new rear skid plate and a thick chrome garnish on the tailgate. The license plate is now positioned below the chrome garnish. Adding to it, the SUV will come with TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) and a puncture repair kit.

The Ford EcoSport S variant will continue to offer the tailgate mounted spare wheel. The SUV is most likely to share most of the features including TPMS and interior design with the SE variant. The new variants will be equipped with alloy wheels, body-coloured ORVMs and door handles, roof rails, rear wiper and washer, high mounted stop lamp and a rear spoiler.

The Ford EcoSport is currently available with two engine options – a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. While the former is good for 121bhp and 149Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 99bhp and 215Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard, while a 6-speed automatic gearbox comes with the high-end petrol variants.
