Ford Motor Company has officially unveiled a new rugged version of the Ford EcoSport sub-4 meter SUV in select European markets. This new off-road-inspired version of the compact SUV is called the Ford EcoSport Active. It is the latest model to join the international-spec Fiesta and Focus Active models.
For people not in the know, Ford is using the Active suffix nomencalture to represent slightly higher-riding, crossover variants of its regular cars. The EcoSport Active comes with a slightly raised ride height. In terms of styling, the new model gets more rugged black cladding around the wheel arches and bumpers.
The new EcoSport Active rides on newly styled 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The company has added black treatment to the roof, outside rear view mirrors and grille. The new Active variant is based on the higher versions of the international-spec Ford EcoSport. Inside the cabin, the SUV comes with new eco-leather upholstery. The SUV comes fitted with a 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic headlamps with LED DRLs, cruise control and a reverse parking camera, heated and electric mirrors, and power windows.
Buyers can also opt for the Active X pack, which has a Bang and Olufsen sound system, keyless entry and go, and auto-folding outer mirrors. Adding to it, Ford is also giving a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems, projector headlamps and others as optional features.
The Ford EcoSport Active is powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine, which has recently been discontinued from our market. This engine is capable of producing 123bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. Ford is yet to make an official statement on the launch of the Active version of the EcoSport in the Indian market.
