The upcoming Ford B745 mid-sized SUV is reportedly to be launched in the country in the second half of 2021.
It is no secret that the first product developed under the Ford-Mahindra JV will be an all-new C-segment SUV, which will be based on the next-gen Mahindra XUV500 platform. The JV is also reportedly working on an all-new mid-sized SUV, codenamed Ford B745, which will share the platform with the upcoming Mahindra XUV400 mid-sized SUV.
The Ford B745 is reportedly to be introduced in the financial year 2022, most probably in the end of 2021. The new SUV shares features, specs and platform with the Mahindra XUV400 mid-sized SUV. The upcoming Ford mid-sized SUV will directly rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster and others.
If media report is to be believed, the upcoming Ford B745 SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine. This direct injection engine churns out 163bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. Adding to it, the diesel version will receive the 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 121bhp and 300Nm of torque. The same engine options will be offered with the Mahindra XUV400 and the Mahindra Marazzo BSVI.
The Ford B-SUV will share number of features with the Mahindra XUV400; however, it will have different design. In fact, Ford is likely to tweak the platform and suspension set-up to offer more spirited driving experience. The new model will measure around 4.3 meters in length and is likely to have either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive depending on the variant.
It is expected that the upcoming Mahindra XUV400 and Ford B-SUV will be based on the EcoSport’s B platform. The joint venture could also utilise the SsangYong-sourced X100 platform that also underpins the Mahindra XUV300 and the global-spec Tivoli compact SUV.
