Citroen Plans To Launch One New Model Every Year; New SUV, Crossover

Citroen has officially revealed the new C3 hatchback with an SUV twist for the Indian as well as South American markets. The new Citroen C3 is scheduled to be launched in our market in the first half of 2022. It will be positioned against the B-segment hatchbacks including the Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago. Adding to it, the new C3 will also challenge the likes of the Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger.

The new Citroen C3 will be based on the new CMP (Common Modular Platform), which will also underpin the brand’s two new future cars. The company claims that this platform is compatible enough to accommodate different body styles and different engine options including hybrid, flex-fuel and the electric.

Speaking to CarandBike, Vincent Cobee, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Citroen confirms that the company will launch one new car per year by 2024. This means that the brand will launch 3 more products on this platform, including the C3 in 2022. It is expected that the company will launch a mid-sized SUV and a new compact sedan.

Cobee also said that the company is not completely ignoring the SUV segment. The company could introduce the C3 Aircross or the compact SUV version of the C3 in our market. It is expected that Citroen could launch a new SUV to rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the upcoming MG Astor and the Skoda Kushaq. The third product could be a sedan or a crossover. The crossover could be inspired by the Citroen C4 Coupe crossover.
