Citroen C3 Sporty (codenamed C21), the upcoming sub-4 meter SUV from the French carmaker, will be the brand’s first Made-in-India model under its C-Cubed programme. While the compact SUV will make its global debut in coming months, its India launch will happen sometime in 2022. According to a fresh media report, the C3 Sporty (Citroen C21) will be placed at the lower end of the compact SUV segment and challenge cars like Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite and Maruti Vitara Brezza.
While the Kiger and Magnite cost between Rs 5.64 lakh – Rs 10.08 lakh and Rs 5.59 lakh – Rs 10.00 lakh respectively, the Vitara Brezza is currently available at Rs 7.51 lakh – Rs 11.41 lakh. The upcoming Citroen compact SUV is likely to be priced from Rs 6.50 lakh (for the entry-level variant) to Rs 11 lakh (for the top-end variant).
Ahead of its official debut, the images of its scale model have been leaked on the web. The SUV carries the traditional wide grille flanked by dual-layer, sharply designed headlamps. The Orange accents on the fog lamps, ORVMs and flat roof and blacked out roof rails and pillars further enhance its sporty appearance. The scale model features squarish wheel arches with dual-tone, diamond cut alloy wheels and black plastic cladding. At the back, the compact SUV sports rectangular LED taillamps, dual-tone bumper with black cladding and a more upright tailgate with the large signature badge.
The latest spy images confirm that the Citroen C3 Sporty will offer a large touchscreen infotainment system along with the multi function steering wheel and a binnacle instrument cluster. For power, the upcoming Citroen compact SUV will use a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine that will be good for around 118bhp. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard across the model lineup. It might also be offered with a DCT automatic transmission.
