Citroen C3 Aircross compact SUV was recently caught on camera without any camouflage. It’s the first time the model has been spotted in India. The French carmaker is reported to launch a subcompact SUV based on the C3 Aircross during 2021 festive season. Therefore, the test mule is likely to be there for component testing purpose.
The model features the signature grille, vertically split headlamps with LED DRLs, a chunky scuff plate and trapezoidal radiator grille on the lower section of the bumper at the front end. The pronounced squared wheel arches with black cladding and strong shoulder lines adore its side profile. The A and C pillars have quarter glasses. Its rear section looks similar to the upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross. There is a dual-tone bumper and trapezoidal taillamps.
Dimensionally, the Citroen C3 Aircross measures 4154mm in length, 1756mm in width and 1637mm in height. As mentioned above, the carmaker will bring in a sub-4 meter SUV based on C3 Aircross platform (codenamed Citroen CC21) for the Indian market. If reports are to be believed, the upcoming Citroen subcompact SUV will come with a 100% localised 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine. Its electric iteration might also be introduced at a later stage.
The French carmaker aims to tap the growing mid-size SUV segment that’s currently ruled by Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Codenamed Citroen CC24, the mid-size SUV will enter into production in June 2022. It’s likely to be the third offering from the French carmaker in the country.
The carmaker is also working on a mid-size sedan (Citroen CC26) to challenge the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Honda City. The model is likely to arrive sometime in 2023. Meanwhile, the company is gearing up to launch the Citroen C5 Aircross. Official bookings for vehicle have already been commenced across the nation.
