Citroen recently introduced its second offering in India against the Tata Punch. Called the Citroen C3, the model has been touted as a premium hatchback and costs from Rs 5.71 lakh onwards. If reports are to be believed, the company is planning to bring in the C3 electric by December 2022. It will also introduce the automatic variant of the C3 premium hatch with the first-in-class 6-speed torque convertor transmission in the second half of 2023.

The French automaker aims to foray into the subcompact and mid-size SUV segments in the next couple of years. Recently, a heavily camouflaged test mule of the upcoming Citroen SUV was caught on camera. It’s likely to be the new Citroen C3 Aircross that will share its platform with the C3 hatchback. Internally known as CC24, the model is likely to measure above 4 metre in length. In terms of pricing, however, it will take on the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.

Similar to the C3, the new Citroen C3 Aircross SUV will be a part of the company’s C-Cubed program. The test mule carries silhouette similar to its hatch sibling, but it appears longer. While most of its design details were covered, the model is likely to feature the brand’s signature logo with chrome finish, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, familiar grille with pronounced airdam with slats, black cladding on wheel arches, roof rails and sharply designed taillamps.

As of now, there is no official word on its features and engine specifications. Though, the new Citroen C3 Aircross is reported to come with the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.2L turbo petrol engine options. Both motors are already available on the C3 model lineup. The naturally aspirated gasoline unit makes 82bhp with 115Nm and the turbo petrol mill returns 110bhp and 190Nm.
