BYD Seal India Launch Confirmed – Range Up to 700km

BYD’s pavilion at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo has been graced with three electric vehicles (EVs). The range include the E6 MPV, Atto 3 electric SUV and Seal electric sedan. The E6 and Atto 3 have already been on sale in India at Rs 29.15 lakh and Rs 33.99 lakh respectively. The BYD Seal has been showcased for the first time in the country.

The electric sedan, which is already on sale in European and Chinese markets, takes on the popular Tesla Model 3. The carmaker has confirmed that Seal will also make its way to India. The model will go on sale during festive season. It’s a born electric sedan that measures 4800mm in length, 1875mm in width and 1460mm in height.

Similar to the Atto 3, the BYD Seal comes with the brand’s Blade battery tech. Globally, the electric sedan is being offered with two battery packs – a 61.4kWh and a 82.5kWh – delivering a range of 550km and 700km respectively. One must note that the figures are tested on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC – cycle). It also available with single-motor (with 61.4kWh battery) and dual-motor (with 82.5kWh battery) powertrains.

Talking about power figures, the Seal’s RWD, single-motor version with the smaller battery delivers power worth 204bhp. It can do 0 to 100kmph in 5.7 seconds. The same setup with the bigger battery promises 312bhp and it can accelerate 0 to 100kmph in 5.9 seconds.

The AWD, dual-motor variant with the smaller battery offers 530bhp and it’s capable to achieve 100kmph in 3.8 seconds. With the bigger 82.5kWh battery pack, the same setup delivers a range of 650km.

The BYD Seal comes with a host of features include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a rotating, 15.6-inch infotainment display in the centre console, a scroll wheel to select the various drive modes, two wireless charging pads, a head-up display, etc. The centre console has multiple controls for functions such as volume control for the audio system and heated windscreen.
