BYD Atto 3 Electric SUV (MG ZS EV Rival) India Launch Details; 420km Range

Chinese automaker, BYD (Build Your Dreams) made its India debut in 2017 in the commercial segment with electric buses. The company had also introduced the all-electric BYD e6 electric MPV in November 2021. The company is all set to enter the passenger vehicle electric segment with the BYD Atto 3 electric SUV, which is currently on sale in the Chinese market.

The report claims that the BYD Atto 3 electric SUV is expected to make its India debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. The new SUV will rival the likes of the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona EV. It measures 4,455mm in length, 1,875mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2,720mm.

The new BYD Atto 3 features a permanent magnet synchronous motor that is capable of producing 204bhp and 310Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 7.3 seconds. The SUV weighs between 1,680-1,750kg.

The BYD Atto 3 is available with a choice of two battery packs – 49.93kWh and 60.48kWh. While the former is claimed to have a range of 320km, the later has a WLTP range of 420km. It features brand’s Blade Battery Technology, which is claimed to be safer and can tackle bad conditions better than other battery technologies. The SUV battery can be charged using a 3-pin AC or a Type-2 AC charger. It also supports up to 80kW DC fast charging, which is claimed to charge the battery pack in less than 1 hour.

In terms of features, the SUV gets LED lighting system, 18-inch alloys, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen, a digital instrument console, electric tailgate and ambient lighting.

For safety and security, the BYD Atto 3 gets 7 airbags, ESP, hill descent assist, 360 degree camera, TPMS and others. The SUV also gets ADAS system with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, collision warning, lane departure warning, lane assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert & braking.

It is reported that the BYD Atto 3 electric SUV will come via a CBU route. The new model will attract higher import duties and is expected to be priced around Rs 30 lakh.
