The Audi Q3 and Q3 Sportback SUVs are reported to hit Indian roads near around Diwali 2022. In fact, the German automaker has begun the homologation process of both SUVs. Here, the new Q3 will face challenge from the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and Volvo XC40. Official details of the India-spec model are likely to be revealed in coming months. Though, the SUV is expected to be offered with a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and Audi’s Quattro AWD (all-wheel drive) system. The gasoline motor is good enough for 188bhp.
Globally, the SUV is available with three engine options – 230bhp, 2.0L, 4-cylinder TFSI and 2.0L diesel in 150bhp and 190bhp states of tune. While a 7-speed automatic gearbox is reserved for the 230bhp petrol and 190 diesel units, the 148bhp diesel mill comes with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Design and styling of the new Audi Q3 has been inspired by the flagship Q8 SUV, especially the front end. The SUV features a larger grille and slimmer LED headlights. Its shoulder lines are more pronounced than before. It comes with wheel sizes ranging from 17 to 20-inches in a dual-tone shades. Sitting on the new version of Volkswagen’s MQB platform, the new Q3 is more spacious than its predecessor. Its boot has an adjustable floor and offers a luggage space of 675-litres that can be expanded to 1,526-litres by folding its rear seats.
While the entry-level trims come with 10.25-inch instrument cluster, the higher trims get Audi’s Vitual Cockpit with 12.3-inch display supporting Google Earth maps and voice commands. The new Audi Q3 has also been packed with a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone connectivity, two USB ports at the front and two 12V charging socket at the rear adaptive damper tech, prdestrian detection, a 360 degree camera and driver assistance system including cruise and park assist features.
