Audi Q2’s official bookings have been commenced across the nation. The compact SUV can be pre-booked by paying a sum of Rs 2 lakh, while its launch is likely to happen in coming weeks. After the Q8, A8L, RS7 and RSQ8, the Q2 will be the fifth offering from the German carmaker in the country. The carmaker says that the “Audi Q2 is exceptionally spacious and versatile inside; the car blends performance and driving dynamics with practicality for daily usage”. The carmaker also announced an introductory ‘Peace of Mind’ benefit including a 5 year service package with 2+3 years extended warranty and 2+3 years road side assistance. One must note that these benefits are complimentary with the booking. The upcoming Q2 will be the smallest and most affordable SUV from the German carmaker in India. The company will bring in the pre-facelift version of the compact SUV.
The new Audi compact SUV has been designed on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform and it will be positioned below the Q3 in the company’s model lineup. The overall length, width and height of the Q2 stand at 4190mm, 1749mm and 1508mm respectively. Interestingly, the upcoming compact SUV has cabin space and luggage area equivalent to the A3 despite the relatively smaller dimensions. Some of its key design bits include a single-frame grille flanked by LED headlamps and LED DRLs, black cladding across the bumpers, wheel arches and running boards, a wide tailgate and square-ish taillamps. Under the hood, the Audi Q2 will house a 2.0-litre petrol engine that has been tuned for generating power worth 190bhp and 320Nm of torque. It’s the powertrain that does duty in the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace. Audi’s new compact SUV is capable to do 0 to 100kmph in just 6.5 seconds and offer a top speed of 228kmph. For performing transmission duties, the model has a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox along with the Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
