German automaker Audi is all set to launch the new Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron in the Indian market on August 18. Ahead of the launch, Audi India has started accepting pre-orders for the Q8 e-tron siblings at a token amount of Rs 5 lakh. We have already driven the new Q8 e-tron electric SUV on the streets of Bangalore, and here is the link for our first drive impressions.
The Audi Q8 e-tron is basically the updated version of the e-tron. It is available in two body styles – an SUV and a Sportback Coupe SUV. It will be offered in two versions – Q8 e-tron 50 and Q8 e-tron 55. The Q8 e-tron 55 is available with a 114kWh battery pack coupled with two electric motors. The dual-motor setup is capable of producing 408bhp and 664Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve 0 to 100kmph acceleration in just 5.6 seconds.
The Q8 e-tron 50 also features the dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup. It features an 89kWh battery pack and a dual-motor set-up. This powertrain produces 339bhp and 664Nm of torque. It is claimed to offer a claimed WLTP range of up to 509km on a single charge.
The 2023 Audi Q8 e-tron comes with a 22kW AC charger as standard. However, it supports up to 170 kW DC fast charging. The SUV’s battery can be fully charged in six hours using a standard 22kW AC charger. Using 170kW DC fast charger, the SUV’s battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 31 minutes. The electric car is claimed to offer a range of 600km (WLTP Cycle) on a single charge.
In terms of styling, the new Audi Q8 e-tron features a sleeker blacked-out grille that extends beneath the headlights. It features a new monochrome, two-dimensional Audi logo, and a downward projecting light bar. The electric SUV has a reprofiled front bumper & new air intakes. The new Q8 e-tron & Q8 e-tron Sportback ride on a newly styled 20-inch alloy wheels. “Q8 e-tron quattro’ badging is placed on the B-pillar, while the Q8 badging is placed on the tailgate.
The SUV is offered in 9 exterior paint schemes – Madeira Brown, Glacier White, Chronos Grey, Mythos Black, Plasma Blue, Magnet Grey, Soneira Red, Siam Beige and Manhattan Grey. Audi is offering 3 interior colour options – Okapi Brown, Pearl Beige & Black. The interior appears identical to the previous model with dashboard featuring 3 screens for digital driver’s display, a touchscreen infotainment system and climate control.
