Maruti Suzuki has announced the prices of the Jimny 5-door lifestyle SUV, which is the brand’s 4th SUV in our market. The company is now preparing to launch an all-new 3-row MPV, which is rumoured to be called the Maruti Suzuki Engage. This MPV will be based on the new Toyota Innova Hycross MPV, which is based on the front-wheel-drive TNGA-C platform. If reports are to be believed, the new Maruti Engage MPV will go on sale in our market by July or August 2023.
The Maruti Engage MPV will essentially be the re-badged Toyota Innova Hycross; however, it will receive some design changes. The new model is likely to get the Grand Vitara-like front grille with hexagonal-mesh pattern with chrome surrounds and black finish. It is expected to feature Maruti Suzuki’s signature headlamps with split setup and three-pod LED daytime running lamps.
Similar to the Innova Hycross, the upcoming Maruti Engage will measure 4755mm in length, 1845mm in width and 1795mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2850mm. Not just styling, the new Engage MPV will share the interior layout with the Innova Hycross. However, it will have new colour scheme and Suzuki badging on the steering wheel. It will be the first Maruti Suzuki model to come with advanced driver assistance system with features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, lane departure alert, rear cross traffic and high-beam assist. For safety and security, the MPV will get six airbags, traction control, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program (ESP), 360 degree camera and others.
The Maruti Engage MPV will be offered with two engine options – 184bhp, 2.0L Atkinson cycle with an e-Drive transmission and 172bhp, 2.0L petrol with a CVT automatic gearbox. This front-wheel-drive MPV is likely to offer mileage similar to the Hycross, which offers 23.24kmpl with strong hybrid powertrain and 16.13kmpl with petrol unit.
