Tata Motors has released a teaser video of its next upcoming model that will be an SUV. The video says – “Jet. Set. Slay. – Suit Up To Soar High” – Arriving Soon. The new Tata SUV will go on sale on 27th August – i.e. just ahead of festive season. While the automaker hasn’t yet revealed name and details of the new model, we expect it to be the petrol version of the Safari SUV or a special edition of a popular Tata SUV.
The automaker has been testing the Tata Safari petrol for the last several months. If reports are to be believed, the model might get the brand’s new 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine. The new gasoline motor will essentially be the more powerful version of the 1.2L turbo petrol unit that’s available on the Nexon.

The Safari petrol will promise a power close to 160bhp and torque around 250Nm. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque convertor or DCT automatic gearbox. The same engine-gearbox combo will be offered on the Tata Harrier SUV model lineup.
The new Tata SUV, which is slated to hit showrooms in coming days, could be a special edition. Earlier, the automaker revealed its plan to launch new models and special edition of its existing models under its ‘New Forever’ strategy. It has already introduced Dark Edition, Gold Edition and Kaziranga Edition of its popular SUVs. Tata’s ‘New Forever’ range features its Impact 2.0 Design language including Safari, Harrier, Punch and Nexon.
In other updates, Tata Motors has been working on the Harrier facelift that will hit showrooms sometime in 2023. Recently, the test mules of Tata Nexon subcompact SUV and Altroz hatchback caught on camera with emission testing equipment. Both models are likely to witness a launch by the end of this year.
