Hero MotoCorp has some big plans for its home market. The company recently launched the new Xtreme 160R 4V with updated suspension, a more powerful engine, and a few cosmetic changes. Its prices start from Rs 1.27 lakh and go up to Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Hero has already confirmed that it will reintroduce the iconic Karizma brand in an all-new avatar in the coming months. In addition to this, the two-wheeler maker plans to expand its premium motorcycle range with four new models that will fall under two categories – Core Premium and Upper Premium.
Recently, a prototype of a new Hero bike was caught on camera during its test rounds. The model, which was heavily camouflaged, is reported to be a 125cc motorcycle sharing its design elements, engine, and crankcase with the Hero Glamour 125. However, one can notice its LED headlight, LED turn indicators, a sporty headlamp, front fairing, a wide fuel tank with tank extensions, and an LED taillamp. The bike has a one-piece type handlebar and a split seat.
For performing braking duties, the new Hero bike has a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The braking power comes from the front disc and rear drum brakes. It has been assembled with the 6-spoke, split-type 17-inch alloy wheels with a tire hugger. Its engine details are yet to be revealed. However, the new Hero 125cc bike is likely to have an engine capacity of 125cc and a 5-speed gearbox.
The new Hero 125cc bike will compete against the TVS Raider, which recently achieved a sales milestone of 3 lakh units in the country. When launched in October 2022, the Raider was the first bike in its segment to come with a TFT cluster, connectivity tech, and voice recognition.
