Tata Motors will launch the heavily updated versions of the Nexon, Harrier and the Safari SUVs before the end of this financial year. All three SUVs will receive design changes & more upmarket interiors along with new turbo petrol engines. The Nexon will receive a new 125PS, 1.2L Turbo petrol engine, while the Harrier & Safari will get the new 170bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol engine.
The company will also launch the electric version of the Punch micro SUV by the end of this year. It will be based on the ALFA modular platform, which will be tweaked to accommodate an electric powertrain. The Punch EV will get the brand’s Ziptron powertrain, which comprises of a liquid-cooled battery with a permanent synchronous motor powering the front wheels.
Tata Motors will finally have a mid-sized SUV to challenge the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Maruti Grand Vitara. The production version of the Curvv SUV Coupe concept will be launched in the first half of 2024. It will be offered with multiple powertrain options including an electric battery pack, a turbo petrol engine, a diesel engine and a factory-fitted CNG kit.
Tata Motors will also launch the electric versions of the Harrier and Safari SUVs in 2024 and 2025. The company had showcased the concept version of the Harrier EV at the 2023 Auto Expo. The new SUVs will be based on Tata’s GEN 2 (Sigma) architecture that’s essentially the heavily re-engineered version of the OmegaArch platform. Moreover, the company has announced that the production version of the Sierra lifestyle SUV will be launched in 2025. It will come with an electric as well as petrol engine options.
