The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra is working on a wide range of new SUVs to further improve its sales in the fast growing Indian market. The company will introduce its first born-electric SUV, the XUV.e8 in late 2024. Adding to it, the XUV300 facelift, new XUV300 EV, 5-door Thar and the updated XUV400 will be launched in our market next year. The brand’s flagship SUV, the Mahindra XUV700 will also receive a 6-seater derivative in 2024.
The Mahindra XUV700 mid-sized SUV is currently available in two seating options – 5 and 7-seat. The later comes with a bench-type seat in the third row. In order to further strengthen its position in the segment, the XUV700 SUV will also receive a new 6-seater variant. The 6-seater Mahindra XUV700 will come with captain seats in the second row. The XUV700’s direct rivals including the Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari are offered with 6-seater variants with captain chairs.
Adding to it, the Mahindra XUV700 line-up will also receive auto-dimming IRVM which has now become an important safety feature during night driving. The SUV could also see the addition of cooled seats, which is available in its direct rivals. The 6-seater Mahindra XUV700 is expected to be based on the top-end variant, which comes with ADAS tech, 6-way electrically adjustable front seat with memory & retract function, powered ORVMs, dual-zone climate control, blind view monitor, a 360 degree camera, electronic parking brake, wireless charging and others.
The 6-seater version of the Mahindra XUV700 will continue to be offered with the existing 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines. While the former is good for 197bhp and 380Nm of torque, the turbo diesel engine offers two states of tunes – 153bhp/360Nm and 182bhp/420Nm. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
