5-Door Thar, New XUV300 – Mahindra Confirms 9 New SUVs For India

Mahindra & Mahindra has announced the product launch strategy for the next 5 years during annual analyst meet. According to the leaked document from the presentation, Mahindra plans to introduce 9 new utility vehicles by 2026. The company’s product line-up based on ladder-on-frame chassis will comprise of 4 models including the current 3-door Thar.

1. New XUV700 – October 2021
2. New Scorpio – Early 2022
3. 5-door Thar – 2023-24
4. New Bolero – 2023-26
5. New W620 (XUV900 Coupe SUV) – 2024-27
6. New V201 (new XUV500 or new MPV) – 2024-27
7. All-New XUV300 – 2024-27
8. New EV1 – 2025-26
9. New EV2 – 2025-26

New Mahindra XUV700 SUV

Mahindra will introduce 4 new SUVs on the monocoque platform, and two new electric vehicles will join the line-up by 2025-26. The company will introduce the next-gen Scorpio, 5-door Thar and the all-new Bolero based on the ladder-frame chassis. The 5-door Thar and the next-gen Bolero will be launched between 2023-26, while the next-gen Scorpio will be introduced in the first quarter of 2022.

The monocoque architecture line-up will comprise of the new XUV700, next-gen XUV300 and two new SUVs with codenamed W620 and V201. The new XUV700 will be launched by October 2021, while the next-gen XUV300 will be launched between 2024-27. The W620 is reportedly to be the new XUV900 Coupe SUV, which is expected to be launched by 2024. The V6201 could be the next-gen XUV500 5-seater SUV, which is likely to arrive by 2024. This could also be the brand’s new multi-purpose vehicle, which will replace the slow-selling Marazzo.

Mahindra will also introduce two new electric vehicles 2025-26. Before these two electric vehicles, the homegrown UV maker will introduce the electric version of the XUV300 compact SUV and the eKUV100 by 2022. Both electric SUVs were unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The eXUV300 will be positioned against the Tata Nexon EV, which is currently India’s best-selling electric car.

The next-gen Mahindra XUV500 is reportedly to be based on the extended version of the XUV300 platform. It will be smaller than the current model, and could measure around 4.3-4.4 meters in length. The next-gen XUV500 will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the upcoming VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and the MG Astor.
