Next-gen Mahindra Bolero Confirmed – Launch Timeline Revealed

Homegrown UV maker, Mahindra is planning to launch 9 new SUVs or MPVs in the Indian market by 2026. The company will introduce the XUV700 and the new-gen Scorpio in 2021 and early 2022 respectively. Adding to it, a 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar is also under development. The long-wheelbase 5-door Thar will be launched by 2023.

Mahindra is also working on the next-gen Bolero SUV, which will also be launched by 2023. The next-gen Mahindra Bolero will be based on the new ladder-on-frame chassis, which also underpins the new Thar. In fact, the next-gen Scorpio and the 5-door Thar will also be based on the same platform.

Bolero

Before introducing the next-gen Mahindra Bolero, the homegrown passenger vehicle manufacturer will give a mid-life facelift to the existing Bolero. The upgraded model will receive subtle design changes and upgraded interior. The next-gen Bolero is expected to retain the rugged, solid looking design, which is hugely popular among semi-urban and rural markets.

The next-gen Mahindra Bolero is expected to receive more modern features like a touchscreen infotainment system, new AC unit with rear AC vents, power windows, multi-functional instrument console and others. The top-spec model could also get LED headlamps with LED DRLs, and LED tail-lamps. It is likely to get skid plate, ORVMs with turn indicators and new front grille inspired by the next-gen Scorpio and the XUV500.

The next Bolero is likely to be offered with multiple seatin option. The next-gen Mahindra Bolero will be safer and compliant with the new safety and crash test norms. The new model will be equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, driver and co-driver seat belt reminders, speed alert system, vehicle reverse parking sensors and manual override for the central locking system as standard safety features.

The next-gen Mahindra Bolero could receive a new 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which also powers the new Thar. This engine produces 132bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The SUV could also receive the 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that currently powers the Marazzo MPV. It could also receive a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which also powers the new Thar.
