5-Door Mahindra Thar Concept Rendered; Looks Pretty Accurate

The 5-door Mahindra Thar off-road SUV has been on test for a while now. The model is likely to make its first public appearance at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo in January. Its market launch might happen a few months after its official unveiling. While we have seen the 5-door Thar in multiple spy images and video, a latest digital rendering shows the SUV in its concept avatar. Sitting on the extended wheelbase, the rendered concept appears longer than its 3-door version.

Most of its design looks similar to its younger sibling. The SUV concept has the signature grille with retro-styled circular headlamps, and a massive bumper with integrated fog lamp assembly. The 5-door Thar SUV is likely to come with the squarish LED taillamps, a tailgate mounted spare wheel and a high mounted stop lamp. It could be assembled with the newly-designed alloy wheels. The off-road SUV might have new body panels along with the better wheelbase-to-track ratio. Its breakover angle will be lower than the 3-door Thar.

Inside, the new Mahindra Thar 5-door SUV will have 6 or 7-seats configurations. With longer wheelbase, it’s expected to offer more cabin space. The off-road SUV will come with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the smartphone connectivity and navigation, 8-way adjustable front seats, steering mounted controls, cruise control, ABS, ESP with rollover mitigation, tyre pressure and direction monitor, hill start and descent assist and more.

5-Door Thar

Powering the new 5-door Mahindra Thar will the same 2.2L mHawk diesel and 2.0L mStallion petrol engines. While the former is good enough for 152bhp and 300Nm, the latter delivers power worth 132bhp and 300Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV will come with the 4X4 system and a manual-shift transfer case with a low ratio as standard, similar to its 3-door sibling.
