3 Upcoming Toyota SUVs – Taisor, New Fortuner, EV

After launching the Ertiga-based Rumion MPV, Toyota is now ready to introduce a new sub-4 meter crossover in the Indian market. Moreover, the company is also working on the next-gen Fortuner which will be launched sometime in 2024. Toyota and Suzuki JV is also developing a new entry-level electric vehicle for developing markets including India and South Africa.

Toyota has discontinued the Vitara Brezza based Urban Cruiser sub-4 meter SUV in our market. The company will launch the new Maruti Suzuki Fronx based crossover or Coupe-SUV before the end of this financial year. Likely to be called the Urban Cruiser Taisor, the new crossover will look slightly different from the Suzuki’s crossover. The new model will have Toyota’s signature grille, new bumpers, new alloys and distinct lighting elements. Inside the cabin, the crossover will have new colour scheme and upholstery. It will be offered with two engine options – a 100bhp, 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol and a 90bhp, 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer. 2. New Toyota Fortuner

New Toyota Fortuner 2024

Toyota has officially confirmed that the next-gen Fortuner and the Hilux lifestyle pick-up will come with a mild-hybrid diesel engine. The next-gen Toyota Fortuner is scheduled to be launched sometime in 2024. It will come with significant changes in terms of styling, interior and mechanism. Instead of the IMV ladder-frame platform, the new Fortuner will be based on a new TNGA-F architecture that underpins the Land Cruiser 300. It is expected to receive a new 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine with an integrated starter generator (ISG). The global-spec model is also expected to receive a new 265bhp, 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It could also get a 2.4-litre hybrid turbo petrol engine, which powers few global Lexus and Toyota models. Continue reading…

3. New Toyota EV

Toyota is also looking to enter the electric vehicle space in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki. In fact, Maruti Suzuki had showcased the EVX electric SUV concept based on a new Born EV platform at the 2023 Auto Expo. The new model is scheduled to be launched before the end of 2024-25 financial year. Toyota is also likely to introduce its own version of the eVX electric SUV sometime in 2025. The new EV will measure around 4.3 meters in length and will rival the Hyundai Kona EV, Mahindra XUV400 and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
