3 New Mahindra SUVs Coming in January – Key Details

Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to launch the XUV400 electric SUV and the new Thar 4X2 variant in January 2023. The home-grown automaker is also reported to unveil the 5-door version of the Thar SUV on 26th January. One must note that the official launch date and details of the aforementioned models are yet to be announced. Here’s a brief on the upcoming new Mahindra SUVs.

New Mahindra SUVs

Mahindra XUV400 will be the first pure electric SUV from the home-grown automaker in the country. It will be made available in three variants – Base, EP and EL, which are expected to cost between Rs 17 lakh – Rs 20 lakh. The new Mahindra electric SUV will come with a 39.5kWh Li-ion battery pack delivering a combined power of 148bhp and 310Nm of torque. Mahindra claims that the XUV400 offers a range of 456km on a single charge, which is higher than its arch rival – Tata Nexon EV Max. It’s capable to do 0 to 100kmph in 8.3 seconds and attain a top speed of 150kmph. More details here…

The home-grown automaker will soon roll out the more affordable 4X2 variants of its highly-popular Mahindra Thar SUV. It’s surely one of the much-awaited new Mahindra SUVs that will go on sale in January 2023. Reports suggest that the Thar 4X2 version will be offered with the new 117bhp, 1.5L diesel and the existing 2.0L petrol engines. While the former will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox, the latter will get a 6-speed manual transmission. The new 2WD, 1.5L diesel variant of the off-road SUV is likely to be priced around Rs 10 lakh. More details here…

Mahindra Thar 5-Door

5-Door Mahindra Thar Launch

The 5-door Mahindra Thar could be unveiled on 73rd Republic Day on Thursday – i.e. 26th January 2023. The model, which is essentially the longer and extended wheelbase version of the 3-door Thar, could be introduced with a new nameplate. It will be 15 percent longer than its smaller sibling. Powering the SUV are likely to be the same 2.2L mHawk diesel and 2.0L mStallion petrol engines. Though, the carmaker might retune both motors for providing extra power.
