Mahindra & Mahindra is ready to roll out its first pure electric SUV in early 2023. Called the Mahindra XUV400 EV, the model will take directly on the Tata Nexon EV Max. While its test drives will begin in December, deliveries are likely to start by the end of January 2023. The carmaker will start its mass production next month and initially made available across 16 cities. The electric SUV model lineup will come in three variants, namely, Base, EP and EL. Its prices are expected to start from Rs 17 lakh and go up to Rs 20 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
The carmaker has confirmed that the XUV400 EV will feature a 39.5kWh battery pack using state-of-the-art Li-ion cells. The setup will offer a combined power of 148bhp and 310Nm of torque. The new Mahindra electric SUV is claimed to deliver a range of 456km on a full charge. It will be the longest-range vehicle in its category. Just so you know, the Tata Nexon EV Max promises a range of 437km on a single charge.
The new Mahindra XUV400 EV is also claimed to the fastest accelerating electric SUV in India. It can achieve 0 to 100kmph in 8.3 seconds and offer a maximum speed of 150kmph. The EV’s battery pack can be charged via a DC fast charger (up to 80% in 50 minutes), a 3.3kW/16A home charger (up to 80% in 13 hours) and a 7.2kW/32A (100% in 6 hours 30 minutes). On the feature front, the XUV400 EV will offer a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity and over 60 connected car features. Compared to its ICE-powered version (XUV300), the new Mahindra electric SUV will be longer (4,200mm in length) and have more cabin space.
