24 New Car Launches In 2023 – Maruti, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra

Post COVID-19 pandemic, we have witnessed a wide range of new models launched in our market. While Kia launched the Carens MPV, Maruti Suzuki launched the new Baleno, Alto K10, new Brezza and the Grand Vitara. Moreover, Mahindra introduced the new Scorpio-N and the Scorpio Classic in the country this year. Coming 2023, a wide range of new cars and SUVs will be launched in the country.

The next edition of Auto Expo is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2023. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Kia, Toyota and MG Motor will showcase their respective models at the biennial event. On the other hand, Mahindra, Honda and Citroen have decided to not showcase the vehicles at the Auto Expo 2023.

While Maruti Suzuki will launch 2 new SUVs and 1 new MPV in 2023, Hyundai will introduce 4 new models in the country next year. Maruti Suzuki is now preparing to launch 2 brand new SUVs and an all-new 3-row MPV in the country in 2023. The company will introduce a new SUV Coupe, codenamed YTB and the 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo. Moreover, MSIL will introduce the Innova Hycross based MPV in the country by festive season 2023. The YTB SUV Coupe will be based on the Baleno hatchback and will be offered with a 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox.

It is reported that the Jimny 5-door SUV could be introduced as the next-gen Gypsy lifestyle SUV. The new model will be powered by a 1.5L K15B petrol engine with a mild hybrid tech. On the other hand, the Maruti MPV will be the brand’s most expensive model in our market. It will be offered with a 2.0L NA petrol and a 2.0L petrol with a strong hybrid tech. All three models will be sold through NEXA premium dealership network.

The Korean automaker, Hyundai will introduce multiple new models including the Creta facelift, new Verna, Ai3 small SUV and the Grand i10 Nios facelift in 2023. The company will showcase the new Creta and new Verna at the biennial event. Hyundai will introduce the Creta facelift with subtle design changes along with several high-tech features. It will come with ADAS tech with features like Autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and others.

The next-gen Hyundai Verna will grow in size and will offer more space inside the cabin. The new model will receive several high-end features, which are missing in the current model. Tata Motors is likely to introduce 4 new models including 2 EVs for the Indian market in 2023. The company will launch the Harrier and the Safari facelift in the first half of 2023. The new models are likely to be unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo. The new models will receive design changes and significantly upgraded interior along with the addition of ADAS tech. Both SUVs will receive a 2.0L turbo diesel engine with manual and automatic gearbox. Tata Motors will also launch the electric version of the Altroz hatchback and the Punch micro SUV in 2023. The new models are likely to arrive at the Auto Expo 2023. Both models are expected to share the electric powertrain with the Nexon EV and could offer a range of over 300km on a single charge.

Mahindra will launch the much-awaited XUV400 electric SUV in January 2023. It will be equipped with a a front-axle-mounted electric motor that draws power from a 39.4kWh battery pack. The electric motor pushes out 150bhp of power and 310Nm of peak torque. Mahindra claims that the new XUV400 EV will have a certified range of 456km on a single charge. The Thar 5-door lifestyle SUV will come in 2023. It will ride on longer wheelbase and will receive upgraded interior. The new model will be based on ladder-on-frame chassis that underpins the Scorpio-N. It will be powered by the 2.0L turbo petrol and a 2.2L turbo-diesel engine. Moreover, Mahindra is also preparing to launch the Bolero Neo Plus facelift in 2023.

Kia is preparing to launch the next-gen Carnival MPV and the Seltos facelift in the country in 2023. It is expected that these models will be unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo. It is likely to use the same 2.2L diesel engine that produces 200bhp and 440Nm of torque, and an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Kia will also launch the new Seltos facelift, which will receive significant design changes and upgraded cabin. It will receive a panoramic sunroof and ADAS tech.

Toyota will launch the new Innova Hycross MPV in the country in January 2023. Japanese automaker, Honda has announced to launch the new compact SUV in the country in 2023. The new model will be based on the City sedan and will come with a strong hybrid powertrain along with a 1.5L i-VTEC petrol engine. The new model will share the interior and features with the City sedan. Adding to it, the City sedan will also receive a mid-life facelift.

French automaker, Citroen will launch an electric version of the C3 hatchback in the first quarter of 2023. In fact, the Citroen eC3 electric is scheduled to make global debut in January 2023. The new model will be based on the eCMP platform that currently underpins the Peugeot e-208. It is expected to feature a 30.2kWh battery pack and offers a range of over 300km on a single charge. Citroen is also developing a new 7-seater utility vehicle, which is scheduled to be launched in the end of 2023. It will be based on the C3 hatchback and is reportedly to be called the C3 Aircross. It will rival the Kia Carens and the Suzuki XL6.

Nissan is expected to launch the new X-Trail SUV in the country in 2023. On the flip side, MG Motor will showcase its new entry-level electric vehicle at the 2023 Auto Expo. The electric vehicle will enter into production in March 2023. For power, the new MG electric car is likely to use a battery pack ranging between 20kWh – 25kWh. It will deliver power close to 40bhp and offer an electric range of around 150km. Nissan has also started testing the new X-Trail on the Indian roads. It is likely to be offered with a 1.5L turbo petrol engine with a strong hybrid tech.
