2024 New Renault Duster – New Features, Off-Road Tech Explained

The world premiere of the third-generation Renault Duster SUV recently took place in Portugal. The upcoming model is set to hit the European market early next year, with subsequent launches in various regions, including India. Although the specific launch date for India remains undisclosed, expectations point to a debut in the latter half of 2025. In the fiercely competitive mid-size SUV segment, the 2024 new Renault Duster will contend with formidable rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.

Undergoing a generational shift, the Duster SUV is ready for comprehensive transformations in design, features, underpinnings, and powertrain. Beginning with the interior, the model will showcase a dual-layer dashboard with a sophisticated blend of light and dark grey color schemes. Higher trim levels will exclusively feature a dual digital screen setup—a 7-inch display for the driver’s instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system.

The SUV’s interior design will prioritize the driver with a focused central console, complemented by a horizontal panel beneath the center AC vents housing multiple buttons for the HVAC system. The 2024 Renault Duster will boast a three-spoke steering wheel with integrated controls, accompanied by a 12V power socket and USB ports. Advanced features such as an electronic parking brake and automatic gearbox will be reserved for the top-tier trims.

The standout feature of the new Duster lies in its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology, encompassing functionalities such as lane change warning, traffic sign recognition with speeding alerts, automatic emergency braking, vehicle detection, lane change assist, rear parking assistance, and more. To elevate its comfort quotient, the French automaker plans to include automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, and an Arkamys 3D sound system equipped with six speakers.

In terms of off-road capabilities, the new Duster is expected to outshine its predecessor. Globally, the SUV will be available with three engine options—a 1.6L, 4-cylinder petrol hybrid with a dual electric motor setup and a 1.2kWh battery pack; a 130bhp, 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol with a 48V starter motor; and a 1.0L petrol-LPG variant in select markets. The 1.2L mild hybrid version will offer the choice of either a 4X2 or 4X4 drivetrain system.
