The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift has finally been launched at an introductory price of Rs 31.99 (ex-showroom). Bookings and deliveries for the new 5-seater Tiguan will commence from mid-January 2022, while test drives will begin from December 10.
The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan has received some exterior and interior upgrades. In terms of styling, the SUV retains the original profile. However, it gets some changes in the former of new headlamps, new front bumper and a revised front grille. It rides on a newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels. Other changes include a revised rear bumper, new LED tail-lights and TIGUAN lettering on the tailgate.
The cabin looks largely identical to the previous model; however, it gets a new touchscreen climate control system that replaces the conventional switchgears. The SUV also has new steering wheel that looks similar to the newly launched Taigun.
The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 7 exterior colour options – Pure White, Oryx White, Nightshade Blue, Dolphin Grey, Reflex Silver, Deep Black and Kings Red. Feature list include a panoramic sunroof, LED Matrix headlamps, 3-zone climate control, an 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ambient lighting and leather upholstery.
The new Tiguan gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. It also comes with connected car tech. For safety and security, the new Tiguan gets six airbags, ABS, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), hill start and descent assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), etc.
Powering the new 5-seater Tiguan is a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder TSI turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Skoda Octavia and the soon-to-be-launched Kodiaq. This engine is capable of producing 190bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. A 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox driving the power to all-4 wheels via VW’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system comes as standard.
The new Tiguan is positioned as a premium alternative to the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and the Jeep Compass. Both these models are offered in petrol as well as in diesel guise.
