Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the new Baleno hatchback in the country. The hatchback has received an overwhelming response from buyers. It comes with significant design changes and all-new interior along with some mechanical upgrades. The Baleno’s sibling, the 2022 Toyota Glanza is also ready to go on sale in the Indian market. In fact, the hatchback has been spotted multiple times during its test rounds.
Launch Date & Bookings
The 2022 Toyota Glanza is scheduled to be launched on March 15, 2022. While official bookings are yet to commence, Toyota dealers have already started accepting pre-bookings for the new Glanza at Rs 21,000.
Variant Details
If media reports are to be believed, the new Glanza will be offered in 4 variants – E, S, G and V – which are similar to the Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants respectively of the Baleno. The outgoing model comes in two top-spec variants – G and V.
The E and S will be the new entry-level variants in the Glanza line-up. The E variant will be offered in manual avatar, while the S, G and V variants will come with manual and AMT gearboxes.
Different Design
Except for the Baleno badge, the previous Glanza was exactly similar to the Baleno. However, the teaser images and leaked pictures reveal that the 2022 Toyota Glanza will have different front design. It will come with Camry-like grille and bumper, new chrome treatment and new L-shaped LED daytime running lamp signatures. The hatchback will ride on new 16-inch alloy wheels. The hatchback will be offered in 5 colour options – red, blue, grey, white and silver.
What’s Inside
The cabin of the new Glanza will be exactly similar to the new Baleno. However, it will get black and beige interior scheme instead of black and blue offered in the Baleno. It will come with a 9-inch Smartplay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation and voice commands. It is expected to be packed with heads-up display, a 360 degree camera, six airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), cruise control, new multi-functional steering wheel and others.
Engine Options
The new Glanza will be offered in a single 1.2-litre dual-jet petrol engine that powers the Baleno. This engine is capable of producing 89bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).
