The much-awaited 2022 Mercedes C-Class sedan has finally been launched in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 55 lakh. The sixth-gen C-Class is available in 3 variants – C200, C220d (Avantgrade trim) and C300d (AMG-Line grade only). The new model is longer and wider than before, which translates into more space inside the cabin. The sedan also receive design changes in-line with the flagship S-Class.

2022 Mercedes C-Class Engine Options
The new C-Class is available in 3 engine options. The C200 petrol gets a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that produces 204bhp and 300Nm of torque. The diesel version gets a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine that offers two states of tunes. In the C220d, the engine produces 200bhp and 440Nm of torque. In the C300d, the powertrain churns out 265bhp and 550Nm of torque.
A 9-speed automatic gearbox comes as standard. All three engines come with a 48V mild-hybrid tech with integrated started generator (ISG) system that offers an additional 20bhp and up to 200Nm of torque. The petrol version is claimed to return 16.9kmpl, while the C200d offers 23kmpl. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in 7.3 seconds. The C300d variant achieve 0-100kph sprint in just 5.7 seconds.
Dimensions
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is bigger than the previous model. Compared to the previous model, the sixth-gen C-Class is 65mm longer, 10mm wider and has a 7mm higher ground clearance. The wheelbase has been raised by 25mm. In terms of proportions, the new C-Class is 4751mm in length and 1,820mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,865mm.
2022 Mercedes C-Class Colour Options
The new C-Class comes in 3 interior colour trims – Sienna Brown, Macchiato Beige and Black with open-pore wood trim with aluminium inserts and a metal weave trim options. It is offered in 6 exterior paint schemes – Mojave Silver, Salatine Grey, Opalite White, High-tech Silver, Cavansite Blue, Manufaktur Opalite and Obsidian Black.
Note – Cavansite Blue, Manufaktur Opalite White and Obsidian Black shades are reserved for the C300d variant.
Top Changes
The 2022 Mercedes C-Class retains the external proportions; however, it gets design changes all round. The sedan comes has a cab-rearwards design with slightly moved back glasshouse area. It has prominent hood and minimal creases and character lines, along with a prominent shoulder line. The sedan comes with sleeker LED headlamps with eyebrow-shaped DRLs, new split LED tail-lights, new alloys and revised bumpers.
2022 Mercedes C-Class Interior & Features
The cabin inspiration for the new C-Class is heavily inspired by the latest S-Class. It features a new portrait-oriented, tablet-style 11.9-inch central touchscreen, which uses Mercedes’ 2nd-generation MBUX infotainment software. The infotainment system is compatible with connected car tech and voice assistant. This system also has biometric authentication via fingerprint or voice, which allows user to access personalised data and media.
It also gets HD LCD digital instrument display and a new multi-spoke steering wheel, which also inspired by the new S-Class. The sedan has jet engine-inspired air vents, dual-zone climate control, dual-pane sunroof, wireless charging, electrically adjustable front seats and steering adjust, etc. There is a touch-sensitive pads on the steering wheel, which controls most of the infotainment functions.
