The sixth-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class has made its India debut ahead of its market launch on 10th May 2022. The carmaker has also revealed the market-specific feature details and specifications. The sedan’s new model lineup will be offered in three variants – C200, C220d (available in Avantgrade trim) and C300d (available in AMG-Line grade only). One must note that the C300d carries some sporty design elements over the Avantgrade variants.
The new 2022 Mercedes C-Class receives noticeable changes inside and out along with mild hybrid technology. Here’re key details of the sedan’s new-generation model.
Powertrains, Mileage
The C200 derives its power from a new 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine that’s good enough for 204bhp and 300Nm. The C220d features a 2.0L diesel motor under the hood. It pushes out a peak power of 200bhp and 440Nm of torque. The range-topping C300d variant is powered by a 2.0L diesel engine generating a maximum power of 265bhp and 550Nm of torque.
All three engines are benefited with mild hybrid technology and an integrated started generator (ISG). Both systems give a power boost of upto 20bhp and 200Nm better torque. Furthermore, these technologies make the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class more fuel efficient than before. Its C200, C220d and C300d offer a claimed mileage of 16.9kmpl, 23kmpl and 20.37kmpl respectively. For performing transmission duties, the sedan has a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The carmaker claims that the C200 and C220d can accelerate 0 to 100kmph in 7.3 seconds and C300d does the same in 5.7 seconds.
What’s New Inside
The new C-Class shares resemblance to the S-Class especially when you look at its central console featuring a vertically placed 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The unit has been benefited with the latest generation of MBUX tech. The sedan also comes with a 12.3-inch fully-digital driver instrument cluster, connected car tech, ADAS, a premium Burmester sound system, a large sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, Nappa leather upholstery, powered front seats, rear centre armrest, a wireless phone charger at the front, power adjustable steering with heated function and powered front seats. Buyers have three interior colour options to choose from including Sienna Brown, Macchiato Beige and Black with open-pore wood trim with aluminium inserts and a metal weave trim options.
Bigger Dimensions
The new 2022 Mercedes C-Class has grown up in size as well. Compared to its predecessor, the new one is 65mm longer, 10mm wider and has 7mm higher ground clearance. Now, the sedan measures 4751mm in length and 1820mm in width. Its wheelbase has also been increased by 25mm (2865mm). In order to make the rear seats more spacious, the automaker dedicated 21mm of wheelbase to it.
Colour Options
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class comes in 6 exterior paint schemes – Mojave Silver, Salatine Grey, Opalite White, High-tech Silver, Cavansite Blue, Manufaktur Opalite and Obsidian Black. Please note that the Cavansite Blue, Manufaktur Opalite White and Obsidian Black shades are reserved for the C300d variant.
