Upcoming New Maruti SUV To Get 360° Camera, Stronger Hybrid Tech

Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to enter into the mid-size SUV segment near around this Diwali season. As we have reported earlier, it will be the first production model to be rolled out under Suzuki and Toyota joint venture. Trail production of the model is reported to be commenced at Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka. That means, the SUV’s final version might debut in coming months (possibly in June or July 2022). The test mule was spotted with the ORVM-mounted cameras that hint it will have a 360 degree camera setup. In fact, the model will feature newly-designed, single-tone alloy wheels. Unlike the prototypes spotted earlier, the new one misses out the Baleno-inspired front grille, sleek headlamps and sleek wraparound taillamps.

New Maruti SUV

Maruti Suzuki will equip its new SUV with latest kit that might include connected car tech, a HUD (Head-Up display), a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and a premium audio system. Rumour has it that the new Maruti SUV could also be offered with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite.

There will be no diesel engine options. Reports suggest that the model will come with two petrol engines boosted with hybrid technology. One of them will be mild hybrid tech and other one will be stronger for higher power and better mileage. The hybrid powertrain is likely to come with three drive modes – Pure electric, Hybrid and Petrol.

The upcoming Maruti and Toyota mid-size SUVs will be designed on the localized and modified version of Toyota’s TNGA-B platform. Both models will also share several features and components. Though, their design will be different. For instance, the Toyota mid-size SUV will carry a differently designed grille with headlamps mounted below and wraparound LED strips, a rising beltline and pronounced rear doors.
