Mahindra has been testing the new generation Scorpio SUV for the past 2 years. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio has been spotted numerous times in India as well as in select foreign countries. It is expected that Mahindra could follow the XUV700 or new Thar launch strategy for the new Scorpio. The SUV could make debut on August 15, while launch could take place on October 2nd, 2022.
Mahindra is yet to make an official announcement on the same; however, the company has clarified that the new Scorpio is the next big launch in 2022. Deliveries for the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio could start from 1st November. The new model will be offered as a 7-seater variant; however, the company is also preparing a 6-seater variant with captain seats in the second row.
It is also expected that Mahindra could unveil the new Scorpio in June 2022, as the Scorpio nameplate will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary in June. The company is currently facing shortage of semiconductors. In fact, the new Thar and the XUV700 currently commands waiting period of over 1 years.
The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel. The diesel engine is likely to be offered with two states of tunes – 130bhp/300Nm & close to 155bhp/360Nm. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The higher variants will also receive a 4×4 drivetrain along with terrain modes & drive modes.
Mahindra will continue to sell the existing Scorpio alongside the new gen model. The updated version of the current Scorpio has recently been caught testing. It is expected that the Scorpio facelift could be offered as an entry-level variant or as a commercial vehicle.
