Launched in 2019, the Kia Seltos has been one of the most successful SUVs in the short span of time in India. The company is now ready to give it a mid-life facelift by mid-2022. The 2022 Kia Seltos will come with a panoramic sunroof as an added feature.
The current Kia Seltos is offered with a single-pane electric sunroof. In the mid-sized SUV segment, most of its rivals are equipped with a panoramic sunroof. In fact, its Korean cousin – the new Hyundai Creta alo comes with a panoramic sunroof. MG Astor mid-sized SUV is also equipped with a panoramic sunroof.
It is expected that the top-end variant of the 2022 Kia Seltos will be equipped with a panoramic sunroof. The mid-level variants could continue to be offered with the single-pane sunroof. The new model will also receive some design changes in the form of revised front grille, new alloys and revised bumpers. The cabin is also expected to receive some changes in the form of new colour scheme.
The 2022 Kia Seltos is also likely to get some ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System); however, this feature is most likely to be added in the top-spec model. Hyundai’s Creta facelift is also expected to get some ADAS features. Its direct rival, the MG Astor already offers a wide range of ADAS features.
The Seltos facelift is likely to retain the existing engine options – a 113bhp/144Nm, 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol, a 113bhp/250Nm, 1.5L turbocharged diesel and a 138bhp/242Nm, 1.4L turbocharged petrol. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual, a CVT, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic, a 6-speed iMT & a 7-speed DCT.
Kia India is currently preparing to launch the much-awaited Carens 7-seat MPV. The new model will also miss out on panoramic sunroof, and will only get single-pane electric sunroof. The Carens come with roof-mounted AC vents, which is the main reason behind exclusion of the panoramic sunroof.
