Honda had introduced the new generation Civic Prototype last year. The company is also working on the next generation Civic Hatchback, which has been caught testing multiple times. This time, the 2022 Honda Civic has been caught testing wearing less camouflage.
The 2022 Honda Civic spotted model is still heavily camouflaged, however, it clearly reveals the overall design. The new spy photos give better look at the new front fascia, which has new grille with honeycomb mesh insert and slimmer headlights. The lower bumper has wider air intake with horizontal bars on the honeycomb pattern.
Major changes are made around the A-pillar, as the model has less aggressive design. The hatchback gets a more traditional beltline and a larger greenhouse area with new rear quarter glass. The rear profile also gets a more conventional profile, which misses out a wing and a ventilated rear bumper. The 2022 Honda Civic hatch gets a small diffuser and new tail-lamps.
The interior details of the new Civic hatch are yet to be revealed. The 2022 Honda Civic hatch is likely to share most of the interior features and design layout with the Civic prototype, which was unveiled last year. The cabin will have a minimalist design with a slim and clutter-free dashboard, featuring a free-standing 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The hatch will also get a digital instrument console.
The 2022 Honda Civic hatchback is likely to feature the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 174bhp and a peak torque of 220Nm. The new Civic will also get the new Si and Type R variants, which are expected to be powered by a 306bhp, 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine. Japanese media reports that the new Civic hatchback will make global debut in Japan in November 2021.
