BMW X5, the large luxury SUV from the German automaker, has received a new special edition in Europe and United States. Called the 2022 BMW X5 Black Vermilion, the model will go under production at the Spartanburg plant in September for the US market. Its launch will happen in December 2021.
Only 350 units of the X5 special edition will be sold in North America. It will cost $83,295, thus making it around $3,700 more expensive than the X5 xDrive40i ($79,595).
The new X5 Black Vermilion edition has been painted in Satin Black colour with contrast red vertical slats in the grille and red brake calipers. The dark grey 22-inch wheels with matte appearance further complement its sporty black looks.
It comes with the M Sport package that includes M Sport bumpers and side skirts, M Sport exhaust and adaptive M suspension with red finish brake calipers. The new X5 Black Vermilion edition also gets full LED headlamps with laser technology.
The black sporty theme continues inside the cabin as well. The 2022 BMW X5 Black Vermilion edition offers black leather upholstery with red piping and stitching. While the dashboard has carbon fiber trim, the iDrive controller and shifter get fancy glass versions.
The cupholder cover has an embossed “Edition” logo. The M-branded Alcantara headliner adds more to its premium feel and appeal. The new X5 Black Vermilion special edition offers more features as standard fitments including head-up display, heated steering wheel, a Harman Kardon audio system and remote engine start.
The 2022 BMW X5 Black Vermilion edition will be based on the xDrive40i trim that’s powered by a 3.0L, 6-cylinder inline engine and have BMW’s xDrive AWD (all-wheel drive) system. The motor pushes out a peak power of 265bhp and 620Nm of torque. For performing transmission duties, the special edition will have the same 8-speed automatic gearbox.
