The new 2022 Aprilia SR 125 and SR 160 scooters have been launched in India at Rs 1.08 lakh and Rs 1.17 lakh respectively. One must note that the aforementioned prices are ex-showroom, Pune. Compared to the old models, the new ones are around Rs 12,000 – Rs 13,000 more expensive. The 2022 Aprilia SR 160 will directly take on the newly-launched Yamaha Aerox 155. The two-wheeler make says that the updated SR range “incorporates a new design language reflecting Italian design genesis”.
Design and styling of the new 2022 Aprilia SR 125 and SR 160 is inspired by the RSV4 superbike. The ‘Race’ trim of the scooters have RS-GP-inspired body graphics and hand guards. Visually, both models look sharper with elements such as new V-shaped LED headlamp and LED taillamp. The grab rails and apron have also been revised. While the old MRF tyres are replaced with the CEAT units, seat gets split design. The scooters also have knuckle guards.
The updated Aprilia SR range has been offered in five colour options – Blue, Matt Black, Grey, White and Red. Both models run on 14-inch alloy wheels and offer a fuel tank capacity of 6-litres. The under seat storage space stands at 11-litres. While the 2022 Aprilia SR 125 comes with the anti-lock braking system (ABS), the new SR 160 has been equipped with CBS (Combined braking system). The scooters come with a fully digital instrument cluster borrowed from the SXR 160. The display has readouts for speed, trip and fuel consumption along with a tachometer.
For power, the 2022 Aprilia SR 160 uses the same 160cc, 3 valve engine pushing out power worth 10.9bhp at 7600rpm and 11.6Nm at 6000rpm. The new SR 125 has been powered by the same 125cc motor that delivers a claimed power of 9.8bhp and 9.7Nm of torque.
