Hero Xtreme 160R Launched; Cheaper than Suzuki Gixxer

Hero MotoCorp has finally launched the much-awaited new Hero Xtreme 160R naked motorcycle in the country. The motorcycle was unveiled in February at Hero World Event and was scheduled to be launched in March. However, the launch was delayed due to Coronavirus Pandemic.

The Hero Xtreme 160R is available in 2 variants – rear drum and rear disc brake. While the former is priced at Rs 1 lakh, the rear-disc variant is available at a price tag of Rs 1.03 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).Hero MotoCorp has now officially announced that the deliveries of the new Hero Xtreme 160R has been started. The premium 160cc Hero motorcycle directly rivals the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, the Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ V3.0. The Apache is available at a price tag of Rs 1.03 lakh, while the Gixxer and FZ V3.0 are priced at Rs 1.12 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively.

Hero Xtreme 160R features

The new Xtreme 160R is powered by a BSVI-compliant 160cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine with fuel-injection technology. Paired to a 5-speed gearbox, this engine is capable of producing 15bhp of power at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 14Nm. The Xtreme 160R has a low kerb weight of 138.5kgs. The motorcycle is claimed to achieve 0 to 60kmph in just 4.7 seconds, which makes it the quickest motorcycle in its category.

The Hero Xtreme 160R naked motorcycle is based on the Xtreme 1.R concept, which was unveiled at the 2019 EICMA Motor Show in Milan. Design highlights of the motorcycle includes beefy fuel tank, full LED lighting for the headlamps, turn signals and tail-section along with all-digital instrument console. The motorcycle braking system comprises of 276mm front disc and 220mm rear disc. It also gets side-stand engine cut off. The Hero Xtreme 160R is available in 3 dual-tone colours – White & Grey, Blue & Grey and Sports Red & Grey.
