The fifth-generation Honda City is ready to hit roads in a couple of weeks. The carmaker has confirmed that the interested buyers can pre-book the model online or at any authorized Honda dealership. Ahead of its official launch, the new City has started arriving at dealerships across the nation. The 2020 Honda City will be India’s first connected car to offer Alexa Remote feature that enables to control multiple functions including turning on and off AC unit via voice commands. One must note that it will require an Amazon Echo Smart Speaker that won’t be standard or a part of accessory package of the model lineup.
The sedan’s new-generation model will have several new goodies to offer including Honda Connect telematics system (offering 32 connected car features), a 7.0-inch MID, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Weblink connectivity, an electric sunroof, ambient lighting, an auto dimming IRVM, remote engine start, keyless entry and go and more. The aforementioned features will vary variant-wise.
Interestingly, the 2020 Honda City will be the first car in its category to feature agile handling assist (AHA) and vehicle stability assist (VSA) along with the lane watch assist system. Some of its design elements have been carried over from the new Honda Civic. The sedan features a pronounced front grille, full-LED headlamps with LED DRLs and L-shaped LED turn signals, bold shoulder line and Z-shaped wraparound 3D LED taillamps. Significant changes have also been made to its dimensions that make it the longest vehicle in its segment. It measures 4569mm in length, 1748mm in width and 1489mm in height with a wheelbase of 2600mm.
On the engine front, the 2020 Honda City will get the BS6-compliant 1.5L petrol and diesel powertrains making 119bhp with 145Nm and 98bhp with 200Nm respectively. While a 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard on the model lineup, a CVT automatic unit will be exclusively offered on the petrol variant.
